Ranwell Corporation Began more than 35 Years ago as a family owned business.
Randy's Lawn Mower Repair began through efforts of owner Randall Wells whose passion for hardwork mowing lawns as a teenager for his neighbors grew into something much more. In order to keep his own equipment running, he was forced to learn how to repair it. Then as his knowledge grew, the neighbors asked him for help repairing their own equipment. As his reputation grew, so did his base of neighbors and friends of neighbors who became customers. Randy found himself in a situation where he was spending more time repair lawn mowing equipment than he was spending mowing lawns. It became evident that he was not going to be able to continue to beautify the seven lawns per day that he had been accustomed to cutting.
In fact, he now was so busy that he hardely had any time to mow lawns anymore and spent most of his time repairing everyone else's power equipment. He decided to sell off his "fleet" of mowers and put a for sale sign on a row of about 5 pieces of lawn equipment in the front yard of his Greenfield, IN boyhood home. Some customers came from just driving by. Other's brought their mowers to him in a desparate situation. Rather than wait to have their equipment repaired, and having grass already up to their ankles, they would by one of these "already repaired" units.
The "Sales" had just been put into Sales and Service. Randy had seen the light. He would actively go find broken equipment, repair and recondition it, and put it on the lawn for others to purchase. Although he was serving a greater number of neighborhood customers each day, it became quickly evident that he was outgrowing his surroundings. (He and His brothers also just did not have any more room in the back yard to play baseball anymore).
At the Age of 17, He moved his business to a rented OLD building on what turned out to be one of the busiest corners in town. His business was nearly an instant success. As the business grew, he inlisted the help of his mother, father, sisters, and brothers, to help keep up with the demand. He hired local mechanics and they learned from each other. This sharing of knowledge gave Randy a large database of knowledge to pull from when troubleshooting problems that his customers were experiencing. Advice was always free (as long as the replacement parts were purchased on the spot rather than from a competitor). He also agreed to purchase the building.
Eventually, Randy's Lawn Mower Repair outgrew the location he currently had, and when he was greated with an offer that he could not refuse from the gas station next door, he moved into the custom built Lawn Mower Repair Parts, sales, and Service Building that he designed and contracted to have built. His buisness continued to grow into one of the largest Power equipment Sales and service dealers in the State.
Today, with the help of his wife, Rita and a crew of several employees, he still tries to provide the same work efthic and customer service strategies that brought him to where he is.
